FAQ's regarding the Axxess iPod interface for Ford vehicles (XIAH-FD5)


How do I access the iPod once the kit is installed?

Press the 'AUX' button until the display shows iPod.



How do I control the iPod from the radio?

  1. You can use the Seek Up and Seek Down buttons to move up and down tracks within a playlist. Once you reach the end of the playlist it will start over with the first track.
  2. You can use Presets 1-4 to do more detailed browsing. Press Preset 4 to start. Then press Preset 1 or 2 to display the options (Playlists, Artists, Songs, Genres, etc) one at a time. Every time you press Preset 1 or 2, a different browse option is displayed. Once you see the browse option you want, press Preset 3 to select it.
  1. Preset 5 will engage or disengage Random mode
  2. The arrow up '^' and down 'v' buttons will change what is displayed on the radio. Options are Title, Artist, Genre or Playlist.
  3. The "SCAN" button will play 10 seconds of each song until you press the button again.



What text will display on my satellite-ready radio?



Can I still use the controls on my iPod?

YES. Effective with the latest firmware upgrade, you will be able to control the iPod from the radio or the iPod itself. The default is radio control. To use the iPod controls, remove the cable from the bottom of the iPod while it is playing. Leave it disconnected for approximately 3 seconds and then reconnect it. Playback will resume where it left off. To return to radio control mode, follow the same procedure.



Will my factory Steering Wheel Controls operate the iPod too?

The steering wheel controls will perform the same functions as their radio counter-parts when using the iPod and XM radio (if so equipped) functions. You will only have volume control when you're using the AUX input function.



What can the AUX input be used for?

The AUX input on this interface uses a cable with female RCA connections. (XIAH-RCA – optional). A direct connection using RCA jacks is FAR superior to FM modulated or cassette adapter devices. Any number of audio sources can be connected using the RCA jacks. If your device doesn't have male RCA plugs, you can purchase a simple RCA to stereo mini (headphone) jack adapter from us. What kind of warranty is on this product?

We live by 'The Golden Rule' here. Treat others as you would like to be treated. If you have a problem with the product within 30 days, you can email or call us with a description of the problem. We will try to remedy the problem, if possible. If not, we'll initiate the return authorization procedure to get you taken care of. If it has been more than 30 days, all warranty claims should be filed with the manufacturer. Please keep your packaging materials and your invoice. They must accompany your return.



Will I void my vehicle warranty if I install this device?

Your warranty will not be voided if you do not modify the vehicle.
