Navigation Joystick Controller Repair (2004+ REC nav radio)
$125.00

DETAILS

Do you have a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep REC navigation (nav) radio with a broken joystick? If so, this is the repair for you. Simply complete the payment process and send your display/control board and face to us for the repair. We typically complete the repair within 5 business days of receiving it.

We use BRAND NEW parts, not used take-outs like some shops. We also use the revised version that is less prone to breaking. It has a shorter shaft to lessen the torque and the movement directions have been reduced to 4: up, down, left and right. (The original problematic version allowed for diagonal movement too. The original part is no longer manufactured because, well, it was problematic... So this is your only option.) It also has a slightly thicker sleeve around the shaft to help control cracking. As a result, the back of the face often needs drilled out. If you send the face along with the control/display board, we will do this work for you. If you don't send the face along with the board, you will have to remove the excess material yourself. This modification doesn't affect the appearance at all.

We will ONLY perform this repair if you send ONLY the display/control board (and face) to us because the internal CD6 mechanism in these radios is sensitive and doesn't always survive shipping. We are NOT responsible for problems that result from shipping the entire radio! In fact, if you send us the entire radio, we will send it back un-repaired AND withhold our expenses from your refund. (See the DISCLAIMER section at the bottom of this ad for more info on this subject.)

Basic procedures for removing the display/control board AND face appear below. As long as you take your time, it's a very easy process. This doesn't mean the display/control board is impervious to damage. Please use common sense and wrap it VERY well for the trip to our shop. UPS recommends 2 inches of fill on EVERY side of an item. In other words, make sure there's no way it can contact the inside of the box. The last thing you want is to send your board in for the joystick repair and end up needing the screen replaced too.

This joystick repair carries a 6 month warranty.

This is not a flat-rate repair service for your radio. This is for joystick switch replacement only! For the REC navigation radio only! If you want your radio fully re-manufactured, you can send it off through a Chrysler dealer for $450. If you send it off through Chrysler for the joy stick repair only, guess what: $450...

The joystick knob is NOT included as part of this repair. This is a repair listing, not a parts listing. You will re-use your knobs.

INSTRUCTIONS

You will send your display control board, the radio face AND a copy of the payment confirmation OR the Order Process email to:

    Replacement Radios
    Attn: Repairs
    2301 S. Banker St, Ste B
    Effingham, IL 62401
Please purchase delivery confirmation if you use USPS so you can see online when we've received your package. (Tracking is included for free with UPS and Fedex.) Our tech does not answer inquiries, so questions about receipt of your package or estimated completion date will not be answered. Your tracking number shows when we received your package. The repair is typically completed within 5 business days, as indicated above. You will receive a tracking number when it ships back out. Inquiries about receipt and progress only serve to slow down progress. We know it's tough to go without a radio for an extended period of time but please be patient. Chrysler takes 3+ weeks to perform this repair, so we're clearly exceeding the standard.

BOARD REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Remove the two tiny screws from both the top and bottom of the face:

Remove the four small screws on each side of the face:

Remove the 3 knobs from the face (You will re-use them. Knobs are not included with this repair):

Remove the four screws that hold the display/control board in place:

Remove the small white male plug from the off-white female socket:

That's it. You're done. Package it as described above and send it to the address indicated.

DISCLAIMER: Repair prices are based on the assumption that the radio/board is in it's native state. If it has been damaged or modified (by prior attempts to diagnose or repair a problem, for instance), additional parts may be required and, if so, additional costs will be incurred. Should we find this to be the case with yours, we'll contact you BEFORE doing any additional work. However, should you elect not to have the additional work completed, there will be no refund for time and materials already put into the repair. If you know you have modifications or damage before you even send the board, please don't even purchase the repair, as we don't really want to get involved with anything that is not in the exact stock state it should be in when we receive it.

We will not perform this repair if you send us your entire radio. Your radio will be sent back to you un-repaired and we will withhold $20 from your refund for return shipping and handling, as well as an additional 5% for the credit card fees we incur for the charge and the refund. (2.5% each time.) We are also not responsible for any damage that occurs as a result of shipping the entire radio. PLEASE don't send your entire radio. The detailed procedures above make it easy to send just the control/display board AND face.
