This USB Interface by Grom Audio is a state of the art product that allows you to directly connect your USB thumb drive through the auxiliary input port (normally used for a remote CD Changer) of your factory radio. (See more details below.) Disconnection of your factory remote CD Changer will be required, if so equipped. The cable that connects to your USB drive is 6 feet long, so you'll have plenty of routing options.

Unlike competitor's products, this includes an auxiliary input so you can add another device with the use of an additional, optional cable (See the drop-down list towards the bottom of the listing to add one.) If you purchase the optional C-BTD Bluetooth Extension Dongle Kit, you can connect a Bluetooth enabled cell phone and listen to the conversation over your car speakers, while speaking through the provided microphone. If you purchase the optional C-AUX, you can add any external device that has audio output in the form of a 3.5mm stereo-mini headphone jack OR female RCA jacks. (This includes, but is not limited to: mp3 players, satellite radio, CD changers, DVD players, video game systems, etc). This will allow you to listen to the output from that device through your car speakers. You cannot, however, have the Bluetooth AND Aux cable connected at the same time. They both use the same port on the interface so you would need to choose which of the two you wanted and buy the appropriate optional cable for it. The Aux and Bluetooth cables have proprietary Grom connectors on the end that plugs into the interface, so you do need to use the Grom cables if you wish to add add Aux or Bluetooth.

If you have an Android phone or tablet, you can use this interface to play music from it through the car radio. Song title, artist and album will display on the radio. You will also have some limited controls from the radio and/or the steering wheel controls. In addition, it will charge the device. You will have to download the free AALinQ App from the Google Play App Market to utilize this feature. You will also need a USB cable to connect the phone to the interface. PLEASE NOTE: this is for playback of music only. Calling features are not supported unless you purchase the Bluetooth kit that is optional. We HIGHLY recommend you visit the manufacturer's website if you have questions regarding the Android interface features.

If you purchase the optional C-IPD2 iPod cable for this device, you can charge, listen to and control some iPod functions through the radio. There is a dedicated port for the iPod cable on the interface, so you can have the iPod and USB connected at the same time. The iPod cable has a proprietary Grom connector on the end that plugs in the interface, so you do need to use the Grom cable if you wish to add iPod functionality. This product is only capable of working in remote CD Changer mode in the vehicles in this listing. It does not include a T-harness so disconnection of any remote factory device you may have in the vehicle will be required. (CD Changer, etc.) We recommend you contact tech support for the manufacturer (info@gromaudio.com) or visit the gromaudio.com website to determine exactly how it's going to function in your vehicle with your options.

You may have to splice/tap a power and/or ground wire for connection of this device. You may also have to follow certain naming conventions for folders and tracks you place on the USB drive in order for them to be recognized properly. * Some Audi vehicles used a solid connector for the radio that keeps you from inserting the standard Grom plug that comes with this kit. Unfortunately there is no way to tell until you remove the radio. If you find you are in this situation, you will need to purchase an additional AUDS cable to go between the factory plug and the radio, which frees up the part of the plug the Grom unit needs.
