DETAILS

This Radio Specialty brand adapter kit is everything you need to swap a newer GM (Delco) radio into your older GM vehicle. This BRAND NEW wiring and antenna adapter kit makes your newer 20-pin GM radio installation plug and play**. Don't cut your factory harness and splice in a different plug. Keep your classic car intact with this wiring kit.  And DON'T settle for some kit that is a cut and splice job.  Splices = potential problems...

Most GM radios from the 1970's to 1988* used a 12 prong plug. Most radios from the 90s used a 20 pin plug.  (Some early 90s GM radios had a 21-pin plug.  This is not compatible with those radios unless you cut one of the plugs out of the adapter.)  Not only that, but the 80s radios used a larger antenna plug.  This adapter package takes care of that too since it comes with an antenna adapter.

This package allows you to update your vehicle easily while still maintaining a factory look.  This is a great way to get CD capability and better sound quality in no time!!**  (A radio is NOT included as part of this auction.  We sell several radios that can be used with this adapter package.  We also sell radio and adapter combinations in the Package Deals category. Please check our listings or drop us an email if you have questions.)

Some vehicles from the 80s (like the Fiero) had a Performance Sound System. For these vehicles you MAY need to perform a simple wiring mod in order for the sub to function properly. The mod is within the wiring adapter and we provide the instructions for the Fiero.

One year warranty included!

APPLICATION CHART

*Below is a list of GM models/years that we show used the 12-prong plug. If your vehicle is on this list, you can use this adapter to make the wiring plug and play on a newer (1990s + some 2000-2002) 20 pin radio, provided your vehicle wasn't equipped with a special sound system (like Bose) and provided you are not trying to put a BOSE head unit in an older vehicle.  Please also note that it was not uncommon for GM to switch plug styles in the middle of a model year.  So, in some cases, not all cars on this list will have the 12-prong plug in the last year listed for that model.  (If you have a 1989 Camaro, for example, you will want to make sure your car does not have a 20 or 21-pin plug before purchasing this adapter.)  Here's the list of vehicles that were known to have been manufactured with the 12-prong plugs:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This adapter kit does NOT include the steering wheel control plug.

**Statements regarding the ease of installation refer to the wiring and antenna adapters. You are responsible for making sure the newer radio you buy fits in your dash and can be mounted correctly. With the exception of a couple models, many Chevy, GMC and Pontiac radios from the 90s used the 20 pin plug.  The same thing applies for some Oldsmobile and Buick radios from the early 90s.
