The CD drive was installed in a 2004 Chey Silverado reg cab. My cd player played music but would not reject the cd. Taking the radio out of the dash you will need to remove the ac controls to allow access to remove wire harness and antenna cable from back of radio. The instructions are good that are sent with the new CD drive. The only problem I ran into that was not on the instruction was a heat sink blocking access to the top and bottom panel removal. It has 5 screws on it. I took the outside 2 off and still could not remove it. I used a flashlight to see what the other 3 screws were attached too. I didnt see anything. I removed the other 3 screws and had no problems. I recommend taking pictures as you take the radio apart. It was helpful putting back together for the 3 wire plugs and the 2 wire strips on the drive. Use caution when taking wire plugs off and on. I took my time doing this project so not to make any mistakes. Removal to final install less than 2 hours. CD player works great.

Reply by ReplacementRadios on 8/23/22: There is no heat sink that needs removed to install this drive. We have installed hundreds of them, never once removing anything other than the top and bottom plates, the face, and the plugs that come from the face. (And of course the bracket screws, the bottom drive board, and the cables connecting it to the radio.) Sometimes the top and bottom plate are hard to pry off. Perhaps this customer thought the answer was to remove more parts, but it was definitely NOT required. (Assuming the customer was unplugging the radio and removing it from the dash to work on it. If not I do not know what you would run into. But the very first line of the instructions indicate the radio should be unplugged, so that is not an omission either.)
