An evaluation or problem diagnosis for OEM factory CD radio
$30.00

DETAILS

This listing is for evaluation and problem diagnosis of your 2003 or newer factory original (aka OEM) CD or CD6 radio.

You would purchase this service for one of several reasons:
  • Your radio has a problem that does not appear to be listed in our Repairs category.
  • Your radio has a problem you think is listed in our Repairs category but you're unsure.
  • You don't want to spend time digging on the internet and just want a professional OEM radio person's opinion.

This service covers evaluation of your radio and diagnosis of the problem. It does not include any type of repair. Once we have completed the evaluation, you will have several options:
  • If the radio has a problem we can fix and you elect to have us do the work, we will deduct this $30 evaluation fee from the repair cost.
  • If the radio has a problem we can fix and you elect NOT to have us do the work, we will ship the radio back at no additional cost, at your request.
  • If the radio has a problem we cannot fix and you don't want a replacement from us, we will ship the radio back at no additional cost, at your request.
  • If the radio has a problem we cannot fix and you purchase a replacement radio from us, we will deduct this $30 fee from the total. We keep your radio.

The evaluation and diagnosis is usually performed within 2 days of receiving your radio. There is no guarantee we will be able to fix your radio. If this concerns you, we recommend you call or email first. If you describe your problem we can usually give you an idea of whether or not we think we can do anything about it.

This is only for CD and CD6 radios out of 2003 or newer vehicles. If you send us an older radio and we can't do anything with it, there will be no refunds issued. The same applies for radios with am/fm or am/fm/cassette only. We no longer have parts for most of those older radios.

Your radio must have a display and built in amp in order for us to test it, in most cases. If your display (or amp) is separate from the component you are sending in, we may not be able to hook it up and test it accurately. No refunds will be given if you choose to ignore this warning and send it in anyway. If you want to know whether we carry your remote display and/or amp, please email BEFORE purchasing.

This service is NOT for radios that obviously have some sort of serious electrical issue. Audible popping noises, powering on and off randomly, intermittent volume spikes (or drops) without touching the radio, no power, etc would all be examples of a serious electrical issue we would likely not be able to fix. No refunds will be given if you choose to ignore this warning and send it anyway.

This service is NOT for radios that you merely want unlocked. It is also NOT for locked radios. (Certain exceptions may apply for GM and Honda radios. Contact us first.) Our test equipment is not set up for most radios that lock when removed from the vehicle. (Known examples are VW, Volvo, Mitsubishi and BMW, but there are others. Check the list in the next paragraph for potentially serviceable radios.) No refunds will be given if you choose to ignore this warning and send it in anyway.

We currently offer this evaluation process for most radios from Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Hummer, Cadillac, Saturn, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Toyota, Scion, Lexus, Honda, Acura, Nissan and Mazda. If your vehicle make is not listed here and you choose to send your radio anyway, there will be no refund given but we will ship your radio back to you, at your request. There are SO many different variations of radios, it's impossible to list all of them we can and cannot diagnose fully. If you have questions or concerns, please email us BEFORE purchasing, as refunds are not issued in cases where we can't do anything with your radio.

Please be sure to remove all CDs from the radio before sending it, if possible. CD mechanisms are prone to shipping damage if the radio bounces across the country with CDs inside it.

    Replacement Radios
    Attn: Repairs
    2301 S. Banker St, Ste B

Save your tracking number. Our techs do not answer inquiries, so questions about receipt of your package or estimated completion date will NOT be answered. Your tracking number shows when we received the package. The turn-around time is indicated above. You will receive an email with the results of the testing. If there is a problem or unexpected delay, we will contact you. Calling or emailing us about progress only serves to slow down progress. We know it's tough to go without a radio for a week or more but please be patient. Factory service centers take 3+ weeks to perform repairs, so we're clearly exceeding the standard.

Use common sense!! Please do not send your radio without the requested paperwork or, at the very least, a note that indicates your Order Number. Between inventory, repairs, and returns, we get hundreds of items every week. Packages that show up without any documentation WILL experience a significant delay in processing.

DISCLAIMER: We assume no liability for damage that occurs to your radio during shipment. For instance, if you send your radio in because you have a volume problem and we complete the evaluation process and find the CD drive doesn't work, there will be no allowance or discount given just because the CD drive may have worked when you shipped it. We have no control over what happens to a radio during shipping. You can increase the likelihood it arrives safely by over-protecting it and making sure to remove all CDs before shipment. UPS insurance guidelines require a minimum of 2 inches of quality fill material on EVERY side of the item. Further, it must be tight inside the box. If you have a lot of fill but you have a lot of empty space in the box, everything in the box moves around during shipping and damage usually results. Please use common sense. Just because your radio already has a problem doesn't mean you want it to arrive damaged or with additional problems...
