DETAILS
This is a state of the art product
that allows you to connect a Bluetooth device and stream audio from it by utilizing the auxiliary input port behind your factory radio. The cable that
connects this to your radio is a T-harness, so it has a plug to allow
you, in most cases, to retain a factory auxiliary input currently
connected to the radio. (There are some exceptions. Please read the ad thoroughly.)
The mini Bluetooth receiver plugs on to the included 30-pin iPod cable to allow music streaming from any Bluetooth device, not just 30-pin iPods. Use it to play any audio that's coming from your Bluetooth device, be it native music, music from apps, audio from navigation, etc. Control, other than volume, will be from the device unless you purchase the optional wireless remote found in the UPGRADES section below.
Since this comes with a 30-pin iPod cable, you can connect any of those Apple products directly, which enables charging, text display and control from the radio. If you have one of the newer Apple devices with the Lightning connector, you will be limited to Bluetooth streaming through the receiver mentioned above. If you desire direct Lightning connection at times, you would need to look into the 30-pin to Lightning adapters from the Apple Store. However, please take note of the reviews for those products on their site. The wired adapter gets mediocre reviews for functionality, while the 'block' adapter gets mediocre reviews because of compatibility with most cases. (Do NOT buy knock-offs. They're guaranteed not to work.)
If you have a 30-pin Apple device and have it connected directly to the included cable, this interface allows control of iPod
functions through the radio controls OR from the iPod itself. This
includes: track up/down, playlist selection, shuffle modes, scan and
repeat.
This works with your factory satellite-ready radio. (Must have a CAT and a BAND button if you don't have a navigation radio.) Playlist, track name, artist and album name are displayed
on the factory radio when you are in radio control mode. If you are in
iPod control mode or are streaming music through the included Bluetooth receiver, the only feature you can control from the radio is
the volume.
Unlike competitor's products, this includes an auxiliary (aux) input
cable so you can add another device. (mp3 player, satellite radio, CD
changer, DVD player, etc). You can choose from RCA jacks OR a stereo
mini plug. Or, use the port to add something cooler, like
HD Radio (with the
HDRT tuner package - not included) OR
SiriusXM satellite with the SXV200
tuner and ISSR12 cable (neither are included.)
You cannot, however,
have more than two sources connected at the same time. The Aux cable and the iPod cable (be it with or without the Bluetooth receiver attached) both count as a source, so you would have to fore-go use of one of those two connections to free up a port for HD Radio or
Sirius radio. If you want to
add Sirius or HD Radio, we encourage you to go to the Satellite Radio or
HD Radio listings to read more about these products
before you select one. There are many details about the optional
components that are not addressed in this ad.
PLEASE NOTE:
We update these interfaces with the latest iSimple firmware before they
ship. This is important because it ensures you get the latest
features, fixes and application updates. Why take a chance getting an
older version, only to find you need to buy a cable, fire up your
computer, download some software and figure out how to update it just so
it actually works with your vehicle or does what it's supposed to do?
Save time, money
and aggravation and buy from ReplacementRadios instead.
