This is a female 24-pin plug for attaching to the original factory GM male radio plug, allowing you to install an aftermarket radio. (You will splice the loose wires from this to the loose wires from your aftermarket harness.) Vehicles with the plug this attaches to started appearing in 2000.
This was the only 24-pin plug offered by GM, so if you've counted 24 pins on your main connector, this is the one you need. Wiring pigtails of approximately 6 inches are attached.
This style of plug was used on most Class 2 computer-integrated Chevy, GMC, Pontiac (except Bonneville) and Saturn radios that were approximately 4 3/8 inches tall, starting in 2000. Some Buick and Oldsmobile vehicles also used this plug but you should contact us about them, as another plug style was also used. See the Application List below for examples of vehicles that used this plug.
Vehicles using this plug style had power turn-on through the BUS system. Consequently there is no dedicated keyed (red) power wire in the factory harness. Your aftermarket radio will have a red (switched/keyed) wire that needs connected to the harness that came with it. That will have to be run to your fuse-box or a nearby switched wire, if one is conveniently located. Since this wire will not go to the plug you are buying here, it is not included. (You are not buying a complete aftermarket radio install kit. Just a female plug that goes over the GM plug, saving you from making cuts and splices for all those wires.)
