DETAILS
This is a factory original rear entertainment video system that was an option in many Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. If you are replacing a defective system, nothing else is required for most vehicles on the list below*. If you are adding this to a vehicle, you must make sure your head unit is capable of controlling the rear video system. (Most CD6 or Navigation radios were.) You will also need the harness to connect it to the radio (powers it up and allows communication with the radio), as well as a remote and headphones. The harness is an available option towards the bottom of the listing. We do not carry the headphones, remotes or mounting brackets.
Please note: if your vehicle was not originally equipped with this option, be prepared to do some work. While it's not too difficult, it's not quite as simple as just slapping everything together. You may have to purchase brackets from the Ford dealer (or make them) in order to mount this to the roof of your vehicle. (Vehicles that were not originally equipped with this option were not usually equipped with the brackets.)
We do not accept returns on this item for any reason other than functional defect and then we will only issue an exchange. No refunds will be given. Please do your research BEFORE purchasing. We are not responsible if you are unable to get it mounted or change your mind. We are also not responsible for any damage your vehicle sustains during an install. Please also note that some of these may be programmed for Mercury or Lincoln vehicles. This means it will display the programmed logo for a couple seconds on powering up. Obviously this is not a big deal but, if it truly bothers you, your dealer may be able to program it so the Ford logo comes up instead. We do not guarantee this though.
APPLICATIONS
This should work in the following vehicles:
- Ford Explorer: 2006 (* See below)
- Ford Explorer: 2007-2009
- Ford Edge: 2007-2009
- Ford Expedition: 2007-2008
- Ford F-150: 2006 (* See below)
- Ford Five Hundred: 2007-2008
- Ford Flex: 2009
- Ford Taurus: 2008-2009
- Lincoln MKx**: 2007-2008 (** See below)
- Lincoln Navigator**: 2007-2008 (** See below)
- Mercury Montego: 2007-2008
- Mercury Mountaineer: 2006 (* See below)
- Mercury Mountaineer: 2007-2009
- Mercury Sable: 2008-2009
* = Most 2006 vehicles had a different mounting plate on the top of this unit (where it attaches to the ceiling.) There are a few guide pins that are missing and a couple holes in different places. You can swap your existing mounting plate onto this one. You just have to shave off one tab and one screw pocket on the mounting plate because they hang down into the DVD unit and keep the plate from sitting flush. There is also one small round guide pin on the DVD unit that needs shaved off because there is no hole for it in the 2006 mounting plate. Finally, the plug for the fans on the mounting plate is different, so you will have to swap the fan from the new mounting plate to your old mounting plate. So, basically, there are four modifications you would have to make to get this to work in the 2006 vehicles.
** = Most Lincoln vehicles had silver trim instead of the black pictured here. Silver trimmed versions are available under the OPTIONS section below. We can't guarantee whether this will say Ford, Mercury or Lincoln on the screen when it is powered on, but obviously that doesn't affect functionality.
